Sorry everyone I had a great artist for this week but she hasnt answered my questionairre, I am going to assume she is busy working, this girl is a workaholic so I wont be mad at her, LOL. Alright she has two stores and I couldnt just pick one so I will show you items from both of her stores and let you pick your favorite store.

This is her shop for the little girls that we love and cherish. So many cute things in here, I am glad I never had a daughter, I would never ever have money for myself, LOL. Great selection, great quality and all around fun to have. Here are my favorites.

This one is awesome, she is willing to make it in your choice of colors, and to fit your little princess fairy. And there is a lot of things included in this order for this dress/costume,

Adjustable Flower incased Tutu (or anything else you can think you would like inside the tutu)

The underdress

The overdress that ties in front

A beautiful Magic Wand

A beatiful Headpeice (made with a headband to stay on easy)
Great for Special occassions, IE: birthdays, Halloween is coming up and we know those princess love to come out for trick or treating.

How about a funky stuffed owl, he is too cute to not want to take him home.

And how about a cute little dress for your little girl with a matching dress for her little doll. Isnt this the cutest. Just have to love it all.

I will save her second shop for tomorrow, have fun with this one, take your time find something you like and buy, buy, buy.

Featured Artist 8-18-08

This weeks artist is a friend, well I consider her a friend, we participate in a few groups together online. Her work is very cute.

Petal Heads. is for ages newborn to about age 7. They make headbands and infant hats adorned with flowers, buttons and "bling". The headbands actually fit newborns to adults and the knot hats are for 0-18 months. The top knot is adjustable. They are a unique gift and such a fun accessory!

Petalheads has been making these for about 6 months. The first 4 months were just for her daughters and then she stumbled upon Etsy and decided to make them for others!

Currently they are listed on Etsy at http://www.petalheads.etsy.com/ and as of mid August they can be purchased at Peace Blooms in Morganton, NC (thanks to a mom, the shop owner, that I met thru Cafemom.com).

Petalheads' bio: Petal Heads Headbands. My name is Melissa and I am the mother of 3 crazy/beautiful kids! We just moved to Albany, Oregon from Arizona. I have two daughters and that is how Petal Heads came about. I started making these headbands and hats for my girls and they look so cute in photos and even better in person. They just add so much sass to any little outfit. They always get adoring stares when they wear their Petal Heads.
The crochet headbands are really stretchy and fit newborns, toddlers and even adults! They also do a great job of covering up that awkward, but cute bald spot phase babies go through, or to pull back the "new" bangs your pre-schooler just cut for herself!
Thanks for taking the the time to look at my craft.*(The button and the flower have been securely hand sewn to the headband. These are cute and fun, but they are not a toy. Please always watch your children around any item with small pieces.) I love to see my Petal Heads on their new "home" so feel free to e-mail me a picture at petalheads@yahoo.com

Petalheads' creator favorite artist: I love all the jewelry makers. They are working with such itty bity items and they come up with such beautiful pieces. I have recently stumbled across Beads In Bloom. Her stuff is amazing! Her products can be seen at http://www.beadsinbloom.etsy.com/
Petalheads work:

This is a 1.5" brown crochet headband topped with an approx. 3" pink flower. The center of the flower is a brown button. The flower and the button have been securely hand sewn to the headband.

This is a fun little 1/4" green plastic headband topped with an approximate 3" white flower. The center of the flower is a black button. The headband has small round holes to about ear level.

This is an adorable white 100% cotton newborn welcome home hat that she can wear for many months. The knot is adjustable so the hats fit 0-18 months. This Petal Head hat has an attached dark pink flower with "blingy" petal tips. The center of the flower is a white swirly button. The flower and the button have been securely hand sewn to the hat and the bling was put on with a very strong holding glue.

Cute little snake

OMG this guy is so cute, you have got to get one, YOU ROCK AEBABY!!!!!

button, snap, tie and lace learning toy

Learn to dress from head to tail with this whimsical little friend! This 2 ft long soft snake has 6 dressing activities that help develop fine motor skills - snap, button, zip, lace and tie, and velcro! Each section of the snake is gently padded with felt to give it body and help little fingers succeed. Each section also separates independently of the others allowing children to match findings (snap to snap, button to button hole) and practice their basic skills. The zippered mouth has a fun little polka dot tongue and makes a nice place to store a few treasures.

This weeks featured artist 8-11-08

This weeks artist is Loridee21, I met Loridee on Cafemom and we are selling our items through Peaceblooms in South Carolina.

Loridee is a scrapbooker and crafter and loves what she does! Here is what she has written as her bio: I've been crafting since I was a child but became more serious about it in my 20's. Then about 10 years ago, I discovered scrapbooking and it's now an obsession of mine! I enjoy creating lasting, archival items that will last for generations to come. As for me on a personal basis--I've been married for 24 years and live in southern Maine. My husband and I moved here from Massachusetts 19 years ago and we love it here! I have two daughters, ages 23 and 20. My oldest just became an Occupational Therapist and is currently working at a local hospital. My youngest daughter is special needs and may be getting a job at a local supermarket bakery working part-time. My husband and I just adopted his grandson, (my step-daughter's son)--Zachery--age 9, just a couple of weeks ago. So, I am now a parent to a boy! I've worked 16 years as a nursing assistant and became a medical assistant three years ago. Currently, I'm unemployed and in the interim have been creating projects to sell through Peaceblooms and on my blog.

Here are her answers to my small questionairre:

Tell me about your shop, what will I find in your shop? I don't have a shop, per se'. I've always made crafts as gifts and have participated in craft fairs in the past, but never have sold any items in a shop. This will be the first time for me. It's a new adventure! I plan on selling assorted scrapbook pages ranging in size from 8x8 to 12x12. I'll be including holidays, events, seasonal, pets, etc. I'll also be taking special orders as well. Besides pages, I'll be selling mini-albums of different sizes as well --accordion; star-shaped; explosion box; flip; envelope and many others. I also sell altered composition books, tags, and paper-piecings.

How long have you been in business? I've been scrapping and creating the above mentioned items for several years now but haven't been in a business. As mentioned before, most if not all of my items have been used as gifts or for personal use. I am published (just one layout) in Memory Makers "Oh Baby! book that came out in May of 2008. I've also won several local contests for my work as well.
Where do you sell your creations? I haven't sold any of my creations to date. I will be selling through Peaceblooms and through my own blog in the near future.

Do you have a blog or website? My blog address is: www.lorideedesigns.blogspot.com.
Who is your favorite crafts person/artison or favorite web resource? I don't think I can name one favorite artison. There are too many of them! I do refer to several scrapping sites for inspiration. Those would be: Creating Keepsakes, Memory Makers, Scrapbooks, etc.; Papercrafts and Two Peas in a Bucket.

Are there any upcoming craft fairs/art shows that you'll be participating in this year? I hope to display some items in our local craft fair in Acton, Maine in August and perhaps some Xmas fairs in the Fall. If not this year, definitely next year!

Here are a few photos of the items that Loridee likes to make:

Alright ladies as promised here is the new artist of the week, I love her items, all of them. Great works of art.

Sheaclay's shop features "fine art for your table" - beautiful and practical functional pottery. SheaClay's best sellers are mugs with nature themed "clay applique" images, or twistmugs with earthy, neutral glazes, perfect for your favorite brew. she also sells alot of bowls, mainly large serving sizes, and place settings. She is more than happy to do wedding registries. She is currently working on a line of "spoiled rotten" pet dishes, treat jars, and personalized urns. All of her pottery can be used in the dishwasher, microwave and oven.

SheaClay has been making pottery on the wheel for 20 years, and selling full time since 2004. She also teaches classes privately, or does pottery parties, and teaches at a local art center.

SheaClay's Bio

I have been making pottery since 1982. I fell in love with clay immediately and at a young age, and this memory is part of what motivates my love of teaching children about such a "magic" medium. I have had a few years of ceramics education at area community colleges and Akron University, but most of my education has been through studio work, making pottery at Hale Farm and Village, contact with other working artists, and through motherhood and family life. I also have a background in textile silk screening and mail order catalog production.

My life is all about my family, and making and selling tableware has enabled me to stay home and raise my kids. It is such a privilege to be invited to serve at so many tables- I appreciate the opportunity to make beautiful things which make a great family meal- or a simple cup a joe- even better.

My Favorites from SheaClay

Sol Swirl Mixing Bowl

Medium sized mixing bowl with spout and lug handle.

Sol Spiral Party Bowl

This bowl measures 4"h x 12 1/2" w and holds 10 cups.It weighs only 3 1/2 lbs. It is glazed on the bottom w/ a raised foot

SheaClay Pottery is an awesome artist and I hope you all enjoy her work. Thank You SheaClay.
