Well things are doing great over here. LOL. I have been doing lots and lots and lots of sewing, so much sew that I think I could sew in my sleep if I was daring enough to try, But I am too chicken, afraid I might loose a finger or two and I am slightly attached to them so not going to try it.

My plan for the year has been to do at least one craft show/festival booth, that will allow me to carry my craft, a month. Success on that since March, soo much so that I am booked for two shows a month for the next 3 months and November. Which is good because I am getting out there meeting the customers and getting my name out there, Great. Of course the down side of that is as soon as the show is over I have to quickly replenish what was sold for the next one. But I am having a blast. On top of all the shows I have my items in two consignmnent shops and that is a blast because I get to know what the shop owners want and make new items that I would of never thought of making.

So half the year is gone and I swear I just woke up yesterday and it was the begining of the year. Hope the rest of yall are having a blast through your year and if you arent doing craft shows/festivals yet, but thinking about it, just throw yourself into it. The worst thing that can happen is you dont and never know what you are missing out on.

Super mom

For several years now my mother in law has called me super mom, I always took it as a compliment, that is until recently. I have gotten to be too super.

I am a stay at home mom with two kids. My son is 6 and my daughter is 17 months. I earned the title super mom when my son was 2 and half, I had started babysitting some of my friends kids and managed to keep the house clean and diner on the table. Then shortly after my son turned three, I started my own business. It started out small, just sewing in my spare time and during nap times, I was still babysitting so couldn’t sew with 3-4 toddlers running around. Well I have been running this business for a little over 3 years now. Things have definitely improved and I have grown. My business has grown, my family has grown, my children have grown and now I sit here screaming slow down. I know growth is good, but sometimes things seem to grow too fast. I will not complain, tooooo much but I am just blown at how fast things grow.

It feels as if yesterday I started this business and to see where it is today, I am proud. To know both my children are receiving the benefits of my business is also something that makes me proud. It makes me thrive and makes me want to work harder knowing that one day this business may grow to a point that I will need and be able to get a larger space to work in and many other things that I only dream of right now.

SO now I don’t take being called as a compliment, I feel I have earned it as a title and enjoy hearing my Mother in law call me by it and my children too.
PS: although food is always on the table, now we don’t always have a clean house. Please don’t think I am MEGAMOM.

Angleton Tx Market Days

We spent the weekend at a new market, and it was great. It was fun to stand in my booth and watch all the passersby, most of them greeting other family members or friends from the community. I must admit when we signed up for the event, I did not know that this was their first show and I had never been to Angleton. I will also admit that this was the nicest event/show I have done. Of course I dont have a ton of experience in doing these events, May last year was when I did my first one but this one beats all of them by far. And of course we made new friends with the other vendors, which is always fun.

We will be returning to this lovely event in November and I think we will be really enjoying it. Its a nice close knit community and everyone is very nice. Even when we were all tearing down our booths everyone helped one another. Lovely Lovely Lovely.

An Amazing Vacation

My Husband need to take some classes for his work in Dallas last week so we put together a little vacation for me and the kids, The last time I took time off of my shop was when I had my baby girl 16 months ago. LOL. And I dont really recall the break I had before that.

So while Hubby was in class me and the kids had fun all day long. We did a lot of swimming, went to the zoo and on the way home we went to dinosaur world. When we got home, some distant relatives were visiting so we played a couple more days with them. The kids really had fun with all of their cousins.

Now its Monday, get back to work day and I am finding it a little hard getting back into the groove. The kids too are having a hard time not running out side to play but we will get there eventually.

We did get to have an amazing vacation and with a little one it wasnt too hard on the brain driving there and back with her screaming in the back seat.

Here is a pic of Davin in a Dino Mouth from our trip to Dino world. That was the best part of the trip in my opinion.

I know the year isnt quite over yet, but so far it has been great. I am sure the last 14 days will be just as great as the rest of the year.

With the awesome success that this year has brought I am looking forward to next year and with that I have posted in several places my goals for 2011, so I wont bore you with those but did want to add that I would love to be able to add some personal goals to my list.

I have so far only listed what I want to do with my business for next year. Personally or family wise, I would love to stay on top of homeschooling my 6 year old. This year we have been lax and did it only when we felt like it. So far this week we have done great. Every day we have done at least one lesson. So YAY for us. LOL. I would love to also make a few more items for my kids, and not everyone elses kids. LOL. I love to make items for kids and usually I start with projects for mine but this year I seem to have focused more on the shop than my babies, so I want to do more for just them. And lastly we need to take a family vacation this year. We havent had one since I got preggers in 08 so we are definately due for one. Not sure where we will try to go but we need to go somewhere away from the computers and maybe somewhere without cell reception.

Alright I feel much better about getting some goals down now to get back to playing with the kids before I need to start dinner.

I hope if you have goals for 2011, business wise or personally, you can reach them and maybe even get more out of them than you hoped.

We will be at the Holiday in the park festival in League City Tx. I am hoping for a fun exciting festival, it will be the last one we do for the year. The last one we did in Katy was pretty good but I am hoping for more fun, and the weather looks like it might be perfect for all activities. Weather man says we are looking at Low 70's for the high and low 50's for the lows, so I might not freeze too much. Still trying to finish a few more last minute things tonight, but It should really be tons of fun.

An Awesome Weekend

This weekend was great. We had a gift market that we were vendors at, it was pretty good.

Every day we drove an hour to get there, which wasnt too bad. Traffic was not bad either. We met a lot of new people, made friends with some of the other vendors. Friday was a little slow but that was sort of expected, Saturday was our best day and Sunday was slower than friday, but all in all I think it was great. Got some feedback from customers that I would have never met before. And learned a few more things to do to help my booth out.

The kids got to stay with grandma and coming home was amusing. Both kids would drop what they were doing to run to me and get hugs and kisses, made me feel soo loved and special, because when I am home all day with them I dont get soo much loving. LOL

And I now have some inspiration for a couple of new items to add to the shop.

Funfest was a blast

We did a craft show at the local Funfest in Texas City, it was a total blast. We made several new friends, and learned a few more things we need to improve on. But here are some of the photos from our booth.

We made our own banner, I let the kids help me paint so it was a little sloppy but also gave it the childish look I was going for. LOL.

Our aprons we a pretty good little hit we sold the cupcake apron set and a similar one in a minnie mouse print. Now I need to make more.

Amazingly the crayon rolls we neglected, I think I displayed too many at one time, giving too many choices confused everyone possibly.

As always our crayon aprons were adored and we sold a few, I need to make more though, and a lot of people suggested we make matching totes for the aprons so they can carry their aprons with them before they get to their destination and then pull it out and put it on, I think that was a great idea and need to work on that.

I made several different pillow case dresses mostly some in a fourth of July print, sold some but not very many, need to definately work on getting some more prints together for the next shows.

Lastly I had some super hero capes, just simple cotton ones, I want to get some embroidered ones done here soon. I am sooo excited to make more items and need to take a few days to clean the house up but other than that we had a ton of fun. My husband made some new friends and ran into some old friends, my daughter who went with us the first day actually had fun too, of course she flirted with everyone that came to our booth, LOL. I really look forward to doing another show next year.

I have chef aprons and hats now to add, tooth fairy pillows, super hero capes and few other items. I am taking these with me to a few craft fairs and if they remain afterwards we will be definately adding them to the etsy shop.

I decided to a craft show last minute here in town. It was a bust but I had fun. We were there from 8-3 and it rained 60% of the time. They are supposed to try to do it again in a few weeks. Learned several things from this though. Since it rained we bought some sides for our pop up canopy, so everything doesnt get wet again. And we learned our tables we dont like. LOL. So now we are going to go get some better folding tables, and hoping to do a few more craft shows here soon, just going to keep learning as we go. Hopefully next time it wont be raining as much and we will have a better experience. We did manage to sell 2 items in the rain. Tons of fun, my 6 month old loved it, my 5 year old not sooo much so we took him over to my moms house.

This allergy season

I am sure everyone is paying for it, physically or mentally. LOL. This allergy season is killing me, and my kids. Me and my son both have asthma and now my 5 month old is being tortured by it all. I have spent the last 3 days watching her cough so hard she is throwing up, was hoping it would go away, lol, tried the humidifier and the cool mist humidifier but neither has helped. All she can do is toss and turn while trying to sleep, and all I can do is sit her and watch her be miserable. Well I broke down today to take her in to the doctor. I also had to get an appointment for my son because he is out of asthma meds and although he went in Feb to see the doctor she wants to see him again to write him a refill, I would be mad but both of them are on medicaid, if I had to pay out of pocket I might try to break someones leg.

Well all of you that are also suffering from allergies, I wish you some relief soon.

Alright, I have been busy making all sorts of new/custom items. I feel like I am neglecting my shops. But I am busy so that is good. I am hoping to have some new items here soon. Just got to get past this needy stage the kids are going through, hubby is starting to act needy too, seems no one can do anything for themselves. Any ways, here are the newest creations.

So we have decided to replace the facial boards on the roof this year, some of them look like they are rotting. We went last night to Lowes and Home Depot. You know how they have those carts that look like cars, well Juleen was determined to sit in one, so I strapped her in with Davin and they did so well, she sat up the entire time, he helped her learn to turn her steering wheel, cute.

Get to the next store again in the basket they go. This time Juleen gets mad because Davin wont let her have both wheels, literally had a tantrum because he told her she could only have her wheel. Never occurred to me that she would do that, She is only 5 months. Cute again, the only thing that would have made this story even more cute would be a pic of the two of them, mommy didnt have sense enough for that.

SO I got this custom order the other day and this is the finished product, I am totally in love with it and more than likely will be making more of these just for a change in pace, I am in love with this idea. totally!!!

Alright this first photo is of a crayon wallet with a chalk board in it, so you can color, take notes or play with chalk. Kind of a three in one.

This is of the tote I made to match it. The inside has two pockets, a big one and a little one.

And this is the outside of the tote, the little kid likes dinos so here is her dino, the other side of the tote is the same just opposite prints. Who cant love this!!

Now to not let my 5 year old see it, he will want to keep it for himself even though there are pink in it and flowers. LOL.

Kids a camping

I heard the kids laughing and had no idea what was sooo funny. So I go peek in my living room to see what all the sillyness is about. This is what I find.

My son tells me they are camping. Every now and then I look over there and the blankets are over their heads and they are just laughing away, then they peek out and watch a little tv and then back under they go. Never knew a five year old and a 3 month old could have sooo much fun under a couple of blankets.

And it is cheap simple entertainment. LOL.

So my kids are getting old already, LOL.

My little girl is already 2 months, with the holidays gone I hope to be able to spend more time with her. Feels like I missed out on a lot because I was busy getting product out for the holiday shoppers. Maybe it is all in my head but really I feel like she was just born a few days ago and already she is getting big.

Davin is 5 and just soo smart but because he is smart he is annoying he has an answer for everything. Was I really out of it that much for the past two months? I guess I now know what hubby felt like the last couple of years when he would have to travel and not be around us at all for a few weeks at a time.

I just look at these kids and wonder where the heck the time went. Well hopefully this year I can get better prepared for the holidays and not miss out on sooooo much. Or I will just repeat this year and wonder the same thing come new years next year. LOL. Hopefully it wont turn to a horribly vicious cycle.

Till this baby pops. Ohh I am getting sooo excited and thrilled but at the same time nervous.
At this point when I was preggers with Davin I had most of the house set up for him and all his baby stuff together.
This one I am not prepared at all yet. I mean I have some clothing and some diapers and a few items, but the majority of what I need is still at the store. Didnt help that this one wasnt planned and completely unexpected, but I still havent found out what it is. Doctors where supposed to do it earlier this month but now I have to wait 11 more days till I find out the gender and then it will be a mad rush to buy what baby needs before he/she arrives.
I just feel like everything is not going as it should and I am in this whirlwind of chaos. Ohh well such is life and life happens right. Cant fight just got to go with it.

So about four o'clock yesterday I get a phone call from the doctor's, my ultrasound has been put off for another four weeks. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. The tech went and broke her arm, so she cant do my ultrasound. Now I am sure there are other mothers that have been put off for this too, going to the same hospital and all. But I am already 27 weeks so now I will be 31 weeks before I get to see my baby and find out the gender, now I will see if I can con my doctor into peeking at the baby here at my next appoinment on the 13th of August but that is still 2 weeks away. SO again I say AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh.

Ugh Doctors what are wrong with them, dont they know you arent supposed to get a pregnant girl excited and then just break her. That is not nice at all.

till we find out the sex of the baby, so stinking excited. But sooo totally terrified.

I want to know so we can buy some of the things we need for the baby, but I havent decided if I will be alright with a daughter. LOL.

I love my son and he is sooo good. I am terrified if we have a girl she will be completely opposite, yes I know another boy too could be opposite but another boy I know I can handle.

A girl would be fun to dress up but then I will be spending all my time making her clothes and never get around to making things to put in my shop. Or I will be making girly items. I love making boy items, they are soo much fun and it is tons of fun to fight with my son over when and if he gets to keep something new.

Well back to my flopping of emotions and chewing of finger nails. Till Next Tuesday.

This year is flying by

So I realized today, Davin's b-day is only 1 and half months away, and my baby will be hear in a little more than 3 months. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. LOL. Before I know it, it will be a new year and everything will be in chaos.

My goals for this year was to get a lot of stuff in the house sold and bring down my fabric stash. I dont know if I will be able to do that just yet. I mean I did clean out some of my stash but honestly I dont even see a dent in it.

Ohh well maybe I need to save that for next year.

OK that was my teeny tiny rant or whatever thought for the day.

School time is coming

We are already getting ready for the new school year, not that I have much to prepare for, LOL. Davin is only in Kindergarten but still feels like there is a lot of work to be done. To get him prepared I made him a crayon roll set, also I am hoping it will encourage him to be excited.

I went ahead and made some extra and listed them in my shop, hoping to do the same for another kid out there. LOL.

I know my son is not soo excited about learning this year, even though we homeschool and we did fine last year, just could have done better with more of a routine, that is my goal for this year, set it all up with a routine. We will see what happens, but here take a peek at these cuties.

decided since I was busy sewing today to entertain himself. This is what I found.

Crazy four year old got my camera...

Apparently while I was at my sewing machine he climbed into the pantry, and liked what the ceiling looked like. There were a few of our food stuffs but they were blurry. LOL.

Then he moved to under the sink. Look at all my cleaning supplies.

Started dinner a little early today, ok way early, just had a moment of feeling good so took advantage of that. We made alfredo and pasta.

This is the meat we put in the alfredo sauce.

Ohh and this is my tummy at 15 weeks. I look huge. LOL.

Things have gotten a little crazy over here. Not just bad crazy but good crazy too. I have been working the last week and a half on two large orders. They were tons of fun. And I already have another large one set up for this week.

So I will be taking today to recoup from the last week and a half and then back to the old sewing machine tomorrow. LOL.

That I am going to have another baby. LOL. Yeah I am a little slow in the brain lately.

But OMG I am going to have another baby and where am I going to put it. LOL. maybe I can empty or half empty a laundry basket of fabric and place it in there, but then who is to say that when I want some fabric out of that basket I dont forget baby is in there and dump it out on the floor.

Hubby made a good point last night that when the baby is born, Davin will be in kindergarten so I will have a few hours a day to be just me and baby but I am scared already, I assume it is the pre-baby jitters. I got them all the time when I was carrying Davin, I always dreamed and was terrified that I would go to the store or something and forget him there.

But now that I am finally gotten into the grove of my little business, I am really terrified that either my business with get neglected or my children. I am scared that Davin will hate the new baby because it gets more mom time then him, I really dont know how I will manage all of this. Again it is more than likely just pre-baby jitters but still, I worry.

I try to talk to hubby about these things but he is one of those "dont worry about it till it is here" people.

Or he tells me it is all in my head, which more than likely it is but still.

Alright I think my little rant is over and I dont feel better but it is off my chest now. LOL.

John is a great friend and market manager and he can be funny at times, here he is.

When did you first start your craft, and what made you want to try?

I took my first shop class in 1987. It was a combination, half metal shop and half wood shop. I really fell in love working with the wood, though. I still remember the first project I made was a Mahogany initial on an Oak plaque for my mother. The contrast of the two woods was intriguing, and I’ve loved wood working ever since.

What do you love the most about the items you make?
I love that kids can have fun playing with the toys I make. I see my daughter's face light up when I make something for her, and seeing her happy never gets old. I also like that I can give parents a toy that they can be absolutely sure is perfectly safe for their kids to play with.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I was accepted into The College of New Jersey (Then Trenton State College) under their Technology Education department to become a shop teacher. Name the process, I learned it. Metal foundry, sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection, plastic vacuum forming, spot welding, arc welding- it was REALLY a lot of fun. But after my Freshman year, I learned two things about myself: First was that woodworking was Still my favorite, and also that it takes a very special person to be a teacher. I didn’t feel at the time that I had that special something, so I switched to Political Science and finished out my BA, just 2 classes shy of being able to declare a Law & Justice minor.

My wife and I met in ‘The History & Philosophy of Corrections’ class and we’ve been married for 11 years this coming June. We have 2 wonderful kids, a 4 year old girl and a boy who just turned 1 last week :)

How about your favorite color?

Without a doubt, blue. Specifically an icy cool blue.

What is something you really want to try making?

I have a dump truck I’ve been working on the plans for that I’m looking forward to making. I also really want to make a toy train. The problem with the train is I have about a half dozen different ways I’d build it, so the dump truck will probably come first unless I can make up my mind on the train.

Are there any other craft fields you dabble in?

Not really. I’d love to be able to but I just don’t seem to have the talent for any other craft. The toys are different. They just seem to come naturally.

What brought you to 1000Markets?

Some of the EtsyNJ team members had mentioned it and I took a look. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but with no fee’s unless you make a sale I figured I had nothing to lose. I’m really glad I did- I love the look and feel of the site here so much!

If you could give 1 piece of advice to somebody just starting in your field, what would it be?

Experiment and be creative! Don’t stop pushing yourself to the limits of what you can do.

Starting to feel human again

So I am finally feeling human again, YAY.

Not getting as sick as I was, I dont know if baby has decided it likes food now or if it just gave up the fight. LOL.

We are trying to get Davin to go back to sleeping in his own bed. I had him where he would start the night off there, and of course some time between 12 and 2 he would come and climb in my bed but at least we had part of the night to spread and sleep comfortably. LOL.

Well my dearest hubby ruined that back in January, Davin and I got a respiratory infection and well he told him since he was sick he could come to my bed so he would be comforted. Yeah now when we tell him to go to his bed, he starts with this truly fake cough and says "but I cant I sick."

Ughh, hubby.

Anyways, so we are trying to get him back in his bed, so when I get huge, there is room for my belly and my poor four year old doesnt get thrown from the bed. LOL.

Ohh and still waiting on my hubby to get a job, I think he likes being home driving me nuts. LOL. Today he is supposed to go fishing with Davin so hopefully I can get some quiet while they are out, unless they determine I must go with them.

So we recently found out I am pregnant. YAY!!!!!!

We are definately excited about this now. LOL. At first we were NOOOOOOOOOO, but that is because we just got rid of all our baby stuff from when Davin was a baby, literally like 2 months ago. Well we had a bit of a scare last night.

Davin was playing in the room with us and I was laying on the bed. He accidentally tripped and stepped on my belly. I had some cramping but it wasnt too bad, just was soo tired I guess. This morning I get up and realize I had some spotting.

Well it is gone now, and we talked to Davin about being more careful, of course as a four year old little boy he didnt really understand told me I was being crazy that his brother and sister were fine. Ohh by the way he has it in his head that I am having twins. LOL.

Going Tuesday to get on medicaid since hubby lost his job and we will start doctor visits shortly after that. So YAY!!!!! We get to have all the fun involved with having a baby. Getting new clothes, toys, furniture and getting prepped to not sleep at night. LOL. I just got past all that with Davin hehehehehe!!!

Ohh and lets not forget all the diaper changing and potty training, YUCK. Davin was easy took him only two weeks to potty train I am pretty sure this will not be as easy. Ohh well we will see. Maybe I am just getting a head of myself.

I have been physically ill for the last 3 days. And it is starting to really annoy me. My hubby and MIL keep telling me I am preggers, my son informed me this morning I have a baby girl in my tummy. Not something I want to hear right now. Hubby still has no job. He has an interview for tomorrow and hopefully it will help carry us till his real job starts in April.

just frustrating. Maybe it is all from stress and they just arent helping, I know it is wishful thinking for MIL. Hubby too. He says he doesnt want more but when he gets around babies he just melts. And Davin loves them too. SO I am hopeing it is just that.

When did you first start your craft, and what made you want to try?

I started doing the hairclips last year, for a friend that always complains about not finding 'cute' barrettes for her little one. From there to this point, it has been an experimenting road. The shoes came from a pattern my mom had from the '70's - which I updated a little - and now they are everywhere!

What do you love the most about the items you make? *

The detail that I have to give them. I love the thought of little feet, little people in them.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm Peruvian, but came many years ago to get my Master's degree in Architecture, got a job and stayed here. I am a part time architect, and part time crafter for the mayority of my time, and the remaining time is for my family and friends.

How about your favorite color?

My favorite color is orange.

What is something you really want to try making?

I'll love to learn to work with glass. I've always been curious about the material. I love stained glass, blowned glass.. everything in glass basically.

Are there any other craft fields you dabble in?

I know how to do Tiffany lamps with glass, I also do needle work, embroidery, paint, drawings.

I've been doing something with my hands and creating something since I was a little one.

What brought you to 1000Markets?

I read an article in Trunkt recomending the site. It's been a great finding!

I dont know where I have been, LOL.
Well biggest news ever: Hubby lost his job.
It really sucks because they told him he was going to be cut because of the economy and get a severance check. Alright that is fine with us, right! Now they are telling us no he got fired because of the performance of his employees (He was the manager of a computer tech company). So no severance check. Alright then. We will live off of our savings for a while.

Not a problem.

So any how we are having tons of fun.

Playing in our vegetable gardens getting them ready for the new growing season. Planting all our seeds that we have been stocking up on for the last year or so.

Went to the zoo yesterday, boy was that fun and it turned out even better when we got there because it was a free day. Didnt know that at first. Coool Beans. LOL.

Davin loved it, he hasnt been there since he was 2 and not sure if he remembers it but he loved seeing all the animals. either tonight or tomorrow night we plan to take him to the natural science museum to see the dinosaur bones.

And more work on the gardens. hehheehehe. So bad thing happened but good things are coming out of it.

NOw if only he can find a better job nearer than the 60 mile drive to near the intercontinnetal airport like before. LOL

When did you first start your craft, and what made you want to try?

I began sewing as soon as I could reach the sewing machine. In kindergarten, I was gifted a little sewing machine. I made all the patterns included, and yearned to use my mother's machine. I made clothes for my dolls. I wanted to sew because my mother did!

What do you love the most about the items you make?

I love that the children who receive the garments I make can feel the love and care I put into them. I also love that they are different and fun. Every kid is special, and I hope in some small way expressing themselves helps them feel that way!

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Oh my, what do you want to know? I spend my days taking care of my husband and children (and they take care of me!), volunteering with the Detroit Evolution Laboratory, and working with my clients.

I practice yoga, cook when I can, and have the great fortune of a few hours, a couple times a week when my mother or mother in law come to play with Ella so I can completely concentrate on sewing.

I am a night owl, and would gladly operate from non until 4 a.m. if my children would allow it.

How about your favorite color?

This changes rather regularly. For the longest time, it was purple, then it changed to blue, and now it changes almost daily. Almost all of my clothes are black, and I let Ella choose what I wear most days!

What is something you really want to try making?

More clothes for myself and other adults!

Are there any other craft fields you dabble in?

Every time I think I want to try something new (other than clothing design, patternmaking, graphic design, and writing) I have to remind myself that "the last thing Karen needs is another hobby!"

What draws you to the fabrics & other products you choose that you work with?

Generally, I am drawn to natural fabrics, but I am always sidetracked by colors. When the two combine,I have to have them. I'm discovering an addiction to fabrics I never knew existed....perhaps it didn't until recently, because the artistry of today's fabric designers is inspiring! I love to create little garments out of large prints. I suppose, since I'm not a quilter, it's my way of expressing the collage I admire in quilts and assemblage projects.

What shops, artists or other things continue to inspire you and help shape your creativity?

Undoubtedly, fabric inspires me. I am constantly inspired by my flickr contacts. I never realized how visual stimulation inspires me until flickr! I am also a graphic designer, so I view everything, in every day through a lens of possible inspiration. Yoga helps me to slow down and open my eyes. I truly find that keeping my heart open through the practice of Ahimsa (non-harming) leaves me open to the kindness in the world; providing me with a constant source of creative energy!

Lastly, my children inspire me. They are true individuals, and they remind me that what I do is important (even if only to them).

When did you first start your craft, and what made you want to try?

I have been sewing most of my life. My mom was (and is) a crafter and she trained me to sew at a young age hand-sewing hems on her dolls. I never really enjoyed sewing until I was in college and learned to appreciate the value of being able to make things for myself! I made my first “quilt” on the floor in my dorm room at Michigan State University. My friends all thought I was crazy! I started sewing quilts for my friends as they started having babies, and I haven’t stopped. When I started having my own kids, and the number of nieces and nephews and friends’ children started growing, I began playing around making other blankets, burp cloths and bibs, and other fun items.

What do you love the most about the items you make?

----------------------------------

I love making items that are both fun to look at, are high quality, and are actually useful! The burp cloths are made to be pretty AND functional – they are much more absorbent than the thin ones you can find in the chain stores, and the options are endless!! I like having bibs that are actually big enough to catch all the spills and drool, and protect the little ones’ clothes! Kids are messy!! 5” wide bibs just don’t do the job!

I am a proud mommy to two beautiful children – my little girl is 3, and my son just turned 1 in December. I also work full-time as a legal assistant for a large hospital system. We got snow!!!

I know for most of you this is not all that exciting, but for me this is totally awesome. For my son it is the greatest thing ever. We normally dont get snow. In fact, the last time we got snow it was Christmas day Four years ago, and the time before that was 14 years ago. So this is an extra special treat, and on top of that this is the most snow we have gotten on any of those occassions. So when it snows here we like to play in it for as long as we can.

And when it is gone we get sad. LOL. Well my son is definately sad. His first snow and it is already leaving. But we wanted to share our fun pictures of snow.

Here is my front yard after about an hour of really hard snow. before that it was really just sleeting and it didnt stick to the ground, this was a nice suprise for us to have great dreams about playing in the snow.

This is my BIL making a snow man at 10 o'clock at night, goober he is.

This is Davin's first snow man ever. He did a good job at making him. OK, I helped form the body but he decorated the snow man with bark mulch and a chunk of chalk. LOL. Ohh and our snow man is about 7 inches tall, that is all we could get at the time, Didnt think to bring more snow from the other cars. LOL.

Finished custom dress #1 for this week. It is beautiful. LOL. Of course I love all these dresses. I have a new one I am going to list really soon. I am almost done with it. I am not sure about the next one though, but maybe because I havent finished it. Anyways. LOL. Here you go.

Love it such a beautiful fabric, ohh and sorry had to take photos inside today, it is raining and cold and just all sorts of yuck outside and my poor customer has waited too long for this dress, shipping of the fabric took longer than expected because of the holiday.

Wow was it exciting, and now I am excited to see what Cyber monday will bring.

I have kept my sale through out the weekend for this. And this is my first Holiday season, like many of you, And I am really proud of how it has turned out. Ok maybe not new but new to me so I call it new. Anyways, I found a "new" site to sell on. I like it so far, I just signed up today and from what I understand of it you are invited to join different groups and they feature your store and that is it. LOL. I havent gotten all the particulars understood just yet but I like it so far. I put all my designer crayon rolls and my crayon aprons on it and was invited to join this group called Childs play. It is cute and there are about 7 stores in the group sooo not too much competition.

The only down side is that you cant use paypal you have to use amazon payments, which I have never done before so that is new to me too. But thought I would invite you to check it out and see what you think of it.

Raining Pouring AHHHHHHHHHHHH

Alright I want to whine a bit so pardon me here. Since Monday it has been raining letting up just enough to drive me nuts. The inspector came yesterday and it wasnt raining then just overcast, he approved the job the roofers are doing on the house so YEAH! Roofers said ohh we will be back when it stops raining, they leave and it hasnt stopped since, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. All I want is the roof and the house finished so my house will stop looking like a the hurrican came in it and puked on everything. I sweep and mop daily because I cant do anything else to clean up and it still looks bad. I mean I cant even control my sewing area right now because it is everywhere and that isnt my fault this time. LOL. Told hubby if this is going to take another month he needs to build me a little shed in the back yard for me to work in so I can control something here. Yes I do have a tendency to need to be a control freak. If there is no order then that means utter chaos and well a little chaos is ok but too much and I become Psycho Jonie. LOL. I just throw things. Normally breaking something and then cleaning all night like my life depended on it and well I quite frankly am getting sick of cleaning till 10 at night because things are going my way. My hands hurt. LOL alright done whining, thank you soo much for listening to this crazy person.

Everyone Meet Wormie

Every one this is wormie, Davin's new pet. LOL. He meet him in the garden bed this morning, they have spent all day together. They went for a walk, had lunch (chicken and french fries), rode Davin's bikes, sat in the sun and played cars in the house together. It wasnt till Daddy noticed wormie in the house that they had to end all this fun. Daddy said wormie had to go outside and couldnt be in the house and then that wormie spoke up for him self. "I dont want to go outside" He cried. "I want to stay with Davin he is my best friend." Of course Davin had to translate wormin for us because well I dont know what language wormie speaks.

Hope you enjoy this story as much as I have I thought it was tons of fun and hilarious and I sat here watching it unfold.

1. I love food, not really awesome but I love food, there isnt much food that I wouldnt eat, and yes I think I am fat. Fact durived from the fact that I love food.

2. I am married to a black man, ok he isnt black but his skin tone is soo dark that everyone else characterizes him as black. He is African and Indian (India) from his fathers side and Chinese and Spanish from his mothers side. So all in all he is more confused than I am racially. I am White, Indian (cherokee), Mexican and Cajun.

3. I want a dog, we have no pets and cant have any because of our allergies but I still want one.

4. I wish days were longer as in not just 24 hours, that or I wish I was a bionic woman, that never had to sleep, that way I could get tons more stuff done and my house wouldnt look such a mess all of the time.

5. When I get angry I have a tendency to inflict pain upon myself. Better than the alternative of inflicting pain on others, and it isnt like I cut myself. I just will kick a wall in the corner one so it hurts and two so it doesnt damage the wall. It has been something I have always done and maybe I need to see a ppsychologist for it but that takes more time out of my day so I dont. LOL.

6. I dont like to let things get to me to the poing of being angry so I have a tendency to make jokes out of everything. I dont like people around me to be upset too, so I make jokes to make them laugh.

7. My favorite color is Purple. I love it on everything. But I am not soo into it that it is all over my house. LOL. There is such a thing as too much purple. Ohh and the best color to put with purple is green but I hate the color green.
